The Irish Coffee Franchise Esquires Coffee House, a North American coffee franchise, has been shortlisted for a national award at the FBD Retail Excellence Ireland Awards to be held at the Lyrath Hotel in Kilkenny this year
The Esquires Coffee Franchise is a Runner Up at National Award for Retail Excellence
The Esquires Coffee unit located in Tesco Retail Park, Carrick on Shannon was a runner up at the country's largest retail sector awards, the FBD Retail Excellence Ireland Awards 2009, held at Lyrath Estate Hotel in Kilkenny on Saturday 7th November. The awards were presented by the Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment, Mary Coughlan, T.D., and hosted by TV and radio personality, Miriam O'Callaghan. Esquires initially progressed to the top 100 stores and after a further rigorous store assessment made it to the list of Ireland's Top 30 stores. Esquires was a worthy runner up in the medium size category and was the only coffee house in Ireland to reach this stage.
Attended by approximately 500 representatives of the retail industry in Ireland, the Awards seek to recognise and reward high standards of excellence across the entire retail industry. The overall title of National Store of the Year 2009 went to Instore furniture shop in Co.Dublin and a special Lifetime Achievement Award was bestowed on Senator Feargal Quinn for his contributions to the industry over the past 20 years. Established by industry group, Retail Excellence Ireland in 1997, the awards have been sponsored by FBD Insurance for nine years running and are the only awards in the country which seek out excellence across the entire breadth and depth of the retail industry and not just one particular sector.
FBD Director of Marketing & Sales, Adrian Taheny, said: "FBD has been part of these awards for almost a decade now and it is heartening to see so many stores putting the time and effort into entering and participating in the process.
It just goes to show the pride and passion of Irish retailers and how important events like these are for morale and acknowledgement. I congratulate all those who dedicated time to participating," he said.
Retail Excellence Ireland is a not-for-profit organisation representing more than 580 companies - 8,500 retail stores - more than one third of the total store numbers in the Republic of Ireland. REI's members collectively employ approximately 100,000 people across all retail sectors ranging from pharmacy and fashion, to grocery, homeware and food establishments.
