When people talk about success stories, then they speak with people like John Holland in mind. As one of Munster Tool Co's longest serving franchisees, he will be the first one to tell you that business is booming and showing no signs of slowing down. Recently we caught up with him to ask him about his experience with Munster Tool Co so far, and to tell us a little bit about how the business has worked so well for him, and how it can work for others.
He began by telling us a little bit about his background and how his life has changed since becoming a Munster Tool Co franchisee. Before joining this company, I had tried the employed route, and the self employed route. Both have their advantages, but at Munster Tool Co, you have the best of both worlds. As someone who had come from a sales background, I knew that if a product is good enough it will sell itself, and that is what happens with the Munster Tool Co products.
He went on to say that at times he is very busy, but I can't really complain, I'm a victim of my own success. I am someone who is driven by success, and because of that, one sale leads to another when Im out on the road. I know it's a cliché, but if you have the right frame of mind, this really is a recession-proof business. I can honestly say that my sales this January are no less than they were in January last year.
I asked John about what he knew of the industry before he joined, and if this was a help to him, I had an interest in cars but certainly not a fantastic knowledge in the area. An interest does help, especially when you are trying to build up relationships with the mechanics.
John then told us about the support he receives from the guys at the headquarters in Mallow. Every time we meet up, or whenever I give they guys a ring, there is always a new offer or a new tool to tell my customers about. The great thing is, Donal and Martin always ensure we have all the right literature and information we need to sell these tools, which is very important. The majority of my working week is spent out on the road, and then there is also about 10 hours a week behind the scenes doing the accounts and things like that. It's certainly not a part-time job. The Munster Tool Co brand name precedes itself, we know we're not the cheapest, nor do we want to be, quality doesn't come cheap. There is a thriving business here for anyone who is willing to give it their full commitment. If I have learned anything since joining Munster Tool Co, it is that effort leads to success. If you feel you aren't getting enough from your own job, then this could be the opportunity for you."
