The man behind food franchising businesses such as Abrakebabra,
Bagel Factory and Yo Sushi in Ireland has bought the Irish franchise rights to
Gourmet Burger Kitchen, an UK burger franchise business and plans open six
restaurants this year alone at an expected cost of 5 million euro. A total of
30 franchises are planed for Ireland and Northern Ireland. The first Irish
business will open in Belfast next month, while others are planned this year for
Dublin.
Gourmet Burger Kitchen franchise concept was developed by three New
Zealanders living in the UK who missed the gourmet burgers from back home. The
restaurants show that burgers need not be just a fast-food, food on the go
product but can be a nutritious and sophisticated meal cooked with the best and
freshest ingredients available.
