The Mallow based franchise business Munster Tool Co recorded its most successful franchising year to date in 2007, with the recruitment of five new franchisees.

Founded in 1980 by Donal Healy and Martin McMahon, the company imports and distributes high quality, specialised tools to the automotive industry across Ireland. In 2004 Munster Tool Co embarked on a project to create a sustainable network of franchise businesses to serve customers nationwide under the advice and guidance of Eamon Curtin of HJM Business Development. Having started with a small shop in Mallow town centre, it now operates from a custom-built warehouse and administrative centre just outside the town.

With the recent additions across the country there are now franchisees in 14 of the 26 counties in the south of Ireland. The company is now focused on recruiting in the North West, Dublin and the South East.

Other developments in 2007 include an enhanced marketing campaign to create even more sales opportunities for franchisees. Product specialists and sales professionals presented a series of training courses to help franchisees take greater advantage of the new opportunities. Further developments are planned for 2008 to support the growing franchise network.

Munster Tool Co began franchising in 2004, with a target of having a nationwide network of twenty franchisees by 2009. With the next franchisee already in the pipeline, it looks likely that this target will be achieved. Donal and Martin put their success down to a combination of supplying top quality tools from the world's leading manufacturers and excellent operating systems.
